The 'Popeye Original Classics' DVD was produced by Thunderbean DVD and is currently in release by Mackinac Media. It's a pretty cool DVD, with the best available prints (all from 35mm) of some of the great Fleischer Popeye cartoons, plus rare interviews with animators and original voices, a great still gallery of original animation art and behind the scenes stills. There's a section on Chester, Ill (Home of Popeye!) plus many other special bonus features.

The first pressings of the DVD hit store shelves on December 13, 2005. Somehow, an error was made and a bad pressing went out to some stores. This version plays on some dvd players just fine, but others it doesn't.

As the producers of the original program, we wanted to let the customers know that if you've purchased this dvd and had some problems, we apologize. Mackinac Media has passed on the word that they will replace any of the faulty dvds with the newer pressing, so if you've purchased one and cannot take it back to the store, please send it to Mackinac Media. They'll replace it free.
